With most things furniture always seems to be in relatively good condition but with people updating their homes and sprucing up rooms, some furniture no longer passes the vibe-check. When you call the JUNK PROS to pick up the furniture you no longer want, it doesn't mean that all furniture will end up in the landfill, but most times it does. Ever since the pandemic the donation centers have become increasingly particular with what kinds and conditions of furniture they'll accept.
One of the most lenient charitable organizations we work with is Habitat for Humanity. They have huge warehouses full of all sorts of furniture. They accept couches, appliances, side tables, coffee table, and even bedroom furniture.
For furniture to be donated it'll need to be in like new condition. That means no pet hair, no scratches, no rips or tears, no missing pieces, etc. We totally understand that everyone doesn't want to see their nice stuff that they spent hard earned money on and took care of for years to just go straight to the transfer station. This is why we've partnered up with a dozen local charities, nonprofits, schools, and churches, and always try our best to find a new home for your items first. If you just ordered a new couch set and the company delivering it to you does't provide a pickup service, give us a call. We can line up your furniture pick up service to come the day before your new furniture is delivered for a seamless transition from old to new. You'll also enjoy the benefit of using your old furniture for as long as possible and not sitting on the floor eating pizza while watching your late night shows. In addition to general furniture removal, we also offer mattress and box spring pick up service. With this service there are a couple of stipulations though. We do not take mattresses or box spring that have or have had bed bugs on them, we also do not pick up mattresses with urine or feces stains on them. I know this sounds gross but it does happen. If you have something like this we encourage you to contact a company that handles those kinds of materials like a hazardous waste company, or some all inclusive restoration companies may be able to assist you as well. For mattresses that have had bed bugs on them but have been treated and removed, some junk removal companies will take them if the mattresses is wrapped in a plastic bag. Other types of household furniture items like end tables, coffee tables, dining tables, and dining chairs are great pieces and likely able to be donated. These are smaller easier to handle pieces of furniture that are typically in better shape and most organization will take a chance on. Some types of household furniture like pull-out sleeper sofas are really difficult to donate because of the mattress inside. Remember when I spoke about bed bugs? Every place assumes sleeper sofas and mattresses in general have this unless proven otherwise. They just can't take the risk of bringing something like that in their facility, and I to be honest, I agree. So most couches, especially sleeper sofas, are typically brought to the dump. Futons are similar to a pull-out couch because people use it to go to bed on. Futons are difficult to donate as well but we do our best to find a second home before bringing it to its final resting place at the dump. |

Using the Grizzly JUNK PROS is a great way to ensure that your furniture items are handled with care and to know that we'll do what we can to find a second home for the furniture is very good condition. Since we never know exactly what will be accepting for donation and what we'll need to go to the dump with, we have to treat all furniture removal services as if they're not going to be accepted. This means that we have to charge normal hauling rates for removal. We're also not a nonprofit ourselves so we do not have the benefit of grants and other miscellaneous donations to pay for operating expenses. We get this question a lot; if I want to donate my furniture, why do I have to pay for the service? If you don't want to pay to have your furniture removed from your home you'll have to contact a nonprofit that makes at home visits. When customer's call and need to clear out their homes, the first thing I tell them after performing a walk-through estimate is to contact a charitable organization that will come to the house and take all of your really good furniture. This is usually done at no cost to the homeowner and they can rest assured that when the JUNK PROS come in to haul away the remaining items, that the likelihood of those items being donated is very slim. You may ask; Why would we suggest a customer do something that will ultimately take away money for our business?
